Non-Technical Reasons for Ipv6
There are many technical reasons for adopting IPv6. But what about the non-technical reasons?
When I see an ISP, hosting provider, or website that supports IPv6 I think: These guys know what they are doing, they care about quality, and they actually plan for the future.
I’d much rather do business with someone that supports IPv6 because of the above impression.
If I was running my own business that provided network related products or services I’d make IPv6 support required because I don’t want to seem like I’m incompetent/lazy/ignorant.
In fact, there are many good hosting providers I immediately skipped over when choosing one for this site because they don’t support IPv6. So not adopting IPv6 has cost real businesses real money. And yes, I know I’m not in the majority. Most people don’t care about IPv6, or even know what it is. But those people take advice and recommendations from the people who do.
So why not build a good reputation now, and be ready for widespread IPv6 usage long before you need to? It already gives you an edge over your competition.
